The TOK program is composed almost entirely of questions, both ageless questions that have captured the eye of thinkers for centuries and new ones, often challenging to accepted belief, which emerge from contemporary life. Our purpose is not to create contempt for the claims of various branches of knowledge, but, on the contrary, to foster an appreciation for the quest for knowledge, its importance, its complexities, and its implications. In the spring semester, we begin a deepening spiral into the interrelated Issues of Knowledge. We consider various kinds of claims from Science to Mathematics, what they are based on, and why we might question their validity. Our topics this semester will include, but are not limited to:
- Intro to ToK/Ways of Knowing
- Natural Sciences
- Human Sciences
- Mathematics
In the fall semester, we continue our deepening spiral into the interrelated Issues of Knowledge. We consider various kinds of knowledge claims from History to Ethics, what they are based on, and why we might question their validity. Our topics this semester will include, but are not limited to:
- Spring Semester Review
- History
